This second volume in the Traveling Bear series has Traveling Bear and his friends, Mookie and Chuga, faced with a decision about what to do next: wait in line for the Yellow Flipper Roller Coaster ride and probably be late for their bus or start heading back to their bus now while taking a ride on an attraction that is on the way back.

“Conner, what should they do?”
“I think they should be late”
“Why?”
“Because they will be first in line and be able to go on the roller coaster.”
“Is that a good choice?
“Yes, because it is a big rollercoaster!”
“We’ve been on a rollercoaster, mom?”
“Yes, at the amusement park.”

“Did you like the book?”
“Yes, because I like roller coasters.”

Parent’s comment:
My son is not familiar with the Traveling Bear series, so we had a little trouble figuring out which friend’s name went with which picture, until the text made a comment that Chuga wears glasses.  The audio CD is a good idea, but my son likes to linger on the pictures not at the same speed as the audio reader.  The “What’s Most Important?” exercise at the end of the book is a good tool to reinforce the message of the story, which in this case was thinking ahead.  My son didn’t necessarily answer them all correctly, but it gave us an opportunity to talk about why his answer wasn’t right, again, reinforcing the message of the book.
