This funny book is part of a series written by Dan Gutman. Most kids love all things that happen in this series and this book is no different. AJ’s mom has decided to go back to work and now he has to go to an afterschool program and he’s not sure he will like it. Mr. Tony who is the teacher who leads the group wants to be in the Guinness World Book of Records and wants to enlist the help of the kids to get him there. He doesn’t care what he does to get there. The kids think he is crazy but go along with his antics - chaos rules and no records are broken. This is an easy-to-read book with characters the kids can relate to.

Zoey:

“This is so funny! Mr. Tony, the instructor for the afterschool program, wants to make the largest pizza and it is a mess. Mr. Tony wants to get into the Guinness World Book of Records and I love that book.

The kids can’t believe this man is so weird and has so many tricks up his sleeve. They just want to get out to the safety of their own home. I would love to be in a program like this- a bunch of surprises. Who knows what would happen. This story makes me laugh so hard and all my friends read books in this set. It is very easy to read but doesn’t have many pictures; when you get my age you don’t need pictures.”

Nana:

I have to say Zoey loved “Mr. Tony is Full of Baloney!” At first she was a little disappointed that there weren’t a lot of colorful pictures, but once she started reading she couldn’t put it down. She kept saying “I wish I had someone like that in my afterschool program.” It was easy for her to relate to the characters and setting. She wants more of these books.
