Star Park: First Adventure When 16-year-old Scott Freeman wins the Star Park Computer’s contest, he and his sister Ann must journey to the Star Park space station. The first prize in the contest was a trip to the Star Park space station where the winner would participate in the first virtual reality adventure of the Star Park space station. When the shuttle, piloted by a robot, arrives at the space station, Scott realizes that all is not well. For one, he is greeted by the head of the Star Park Corporation, Catherine, and Leonard, her assistant. Catherine then states that the adventure will last twelve days, and that if Ann does not get her medicine within these twelve days, she will die. The adventure is started, and Scott wakes up in a field as a gigantic pig. He is now in a world where there are no humans, and gigantic, bipedal pigs called Bours rule most of the world. As he tries to figure out his bearings, he is confronted by a strange creature named Mosaul resembles a giant, bipedal sea turtle. Scott then learns that his name in the game is Prince Eric and Masaul is his aid and guardian. As he journeys to the court of the king, he finds out that, when confronting Dursna, an evil Bour, that she is actually Catherine. Once Scott arrives at the court, Dursna causes unrest. So he, the king and his in-game sister, Mary Anne, not actual Ann, must flee the kingdom. This adventure will lead Scott all over the fantasy world while he is trying to learn the code words which will send him out of the game and save Ann. “Star Park: First Adventure” is a wild ride to the end. The author’s main point is to illustrate that when confronting danger, Scott has the ability to use his ideals and courage to solve all his problems. Terry S. Goudy’s book, “Star Park” is wonderfully written and would be loved by anyone 10 and up who likes fantasy or science fiction, or pigs for that matter. If you’re looking for a good, short read, “Star Park” is for you. |
