When I received “Secret Society,” I was really excited to read it! Secret societies and New York City are definitely two of my favorite things ever, so combining them together into one book made things even more amazing for me! As I read, I was pulled into the world of the Bradford Trust Association and the lives of Patch, Nick, Lauren, and Phoebe.

This book starts out with Phoebe being the new girl in town. She’s a little lost, and kind of overwhelmed, so when she gets invited to a party that Nick is hosting at a club, she’s definitely ready to go to it. There, she meets Lauren, who takes Phoebe under her wing. Then, all of a sudden, Phoebe, Lauren and Nick all get text messages from the same number telling them to go somewhere. By then end of the night, the three of them had become a part of a secret society that would get them anywhere they wanted to go in their life. All of a sudden, odd things begin to happen, and they want out. What happens if they can never get out?

This book was so amazing! I don’t know how else to describe this book. It reminded me of the “Blue Bloods” series by Melissa de la Cruz, but it was better because it wasn’t about vampires. It also reminded me of “Gossip Girl,” which is one of my favorite books of all time. I feel like anybody who liked either of those series will definitely love this book as much as I did!

One thing about this book that I really liked was the history lesson that was tied into it because of the use of the ankh tattoos. I loved reading bits and pieces of Egyptian history mixed into the storyline! It’s great, because while I was reading “Secret Society,” my AP history class was talking about ancient Egypt!
