Patricia Derrick’s “Rickity and Snickity at the Balloon Fiesta” has a lot of rhythm and rhyme.  There is even a CD with a song of the story.  The song has Spanish overtones.

Parish and Isaac loved the pictures even more than the song and story.  The cubs are cute and their parents have expressive faces.  Of course, they loved the pictures of hot air balloons floating through the sky in “Rickity and Snickity at the Balloon Fiesta.”  Some of the balloons are shaped liked animals.  Parish noticed that.

“Do you like the pictures?”
“I like the balloons.”

“Did you know that you can ride in hot air balloons?  It is sort of like an airplane, but it is much slower.”
“Like a helicopter?”  She puts her arms out like an airplane and zooms across the room.  “I want to ride an airplane to see Meme.”

“We will do that again one day.  What was your favorite part of this book?”
“The Duck.”  Isaac quacks and points to the duck that he just noticed.

“Do you want to keep this book or give it away?”
“I want to keep this one.”
