Montgomery the Moose is a tall, gangly guy.  He started practicing dance much to the surprise of his friends.

He shows how he dances in several spots of the book.  There is a CD that goes along with the book.  The story is retold with music.  The song is okay.  Neither Parish nor Isaac are overly excited about the song.

Montgomery does have several costume changes.  He looks debonair in a suit.  He chills out in beachwear.  Then he goes metal with a leather outfit.  He even has a hip hop outfit.  In the end he wears a western outfit, and he rides a mechanical bull.

The story and song are cute in “Montgomery the Moose Can Shake his Caboose.”  Neither Parish nor Isaac really showed interest in it.  I kept it in the living room in a stack of books that I keep available for the kids.  It has been there for three days, and neither of them has picked it up unless I made a point to read it to them.

Questions asked of Parish (age 3):

“Do you like this book?”
“No.  I don’t like that one.”

“Do you like any of the pictures?”
“No.”

“Do you want to keep it or give it away?”
“I want to give it away.”
