Dody is a white dog with black spots.   He appears to be lost, and the sky is threatening rain or snow.  He almost gets hit by a car.  He is sad and lonely.  A rainbow breaks through the gray sky.  He ends up in a nice home with a family who loves him.

The message of hope is woven through this story.  The story comes with a CD.  The song is not that great, but the book is short, simple, and cute.

Isaac loves Dody.  He points to him and barks.  I showed him the rainbow.  He can now say “rainbow.”  He knocks on the door of Dody’s new home.  He yells “Knock.  Knock.”  He has picked up “Dody the Dog Has a Rainbow” many times in the last few days.

Questions asked of Parish (age 3):

“What part do you like?”
“I like the dog.  I like the rainbow.”

“Do you like the song?”
“No.  Not really.”

“Do you want to keep this or give it away?”
“I want to keep it.”
