“The Hardy Boys: Crawling with Zombies” by Gerry Conway and Paulo Henrique is a graphic novel about Joe and Frank Hardy who are trying to figure out who is causing trouble at the Zombie Crawl.  The Zombie Crawl is an annual event where people dress up like Zombies.  But lately the Zombies have been controlled by some unknown mastermind who has used them to block the entrances to museums and other places so he can commit robberies and the police can’t get in.  The teenagers dressed up as Zombies say they have no idea what compelled them to help commit these crimes.  The Zombies even attacked the police, but they didn’t really know what they were doing.

This book was different from most Hardy Boys’ books and even from other Hardy Boys’ graphic novels I have read.  Frank and Joe worked separately, not as a team like they usually do.  I like it better when they work as a team.

Although this book had some action and suspense, it had a very unsatisfying ending, really no ending at all.  The ring leader was never actually caught.  Maybe this is the cliffhanger so I will go out and get the next book.

I would recommend “The Hardy Boys: Crawling with Zombies” to people who like graphic novels and mysteries.  Fans of the Hardy Boys, however, might be disappointed because the mystery was not solved to the Hardy’s normal standards and because Frank and Joe didn’t get along very well.
