“The Pineville Heist” by Lee Chambers is the story of seventeen-year-old Aaron who unwittingly stumbles into the path of a multi-million dollar bank robbery gone wrong.  Trapped in the school with his English teacher and a psychotic robber, Aaron needed a miracle.  But he wouldn’t get one.  Danger lurked at every turn, and not everyone who entered would leave.  Can Aaron use his wits and his surroundings to escape the villains?

Aaron was the son of the most successful businessman in all of Pineville.  He had almost everything a kid his age could want, except for his father’s attention.  After a short but heated argument with his father, Aaron went to school only to walk into the greatest adventure of his life.  After sneaking away from school with his friends to discuss the recent robbery, they stumbled across the robbers’ camp.  When they heard people coming towards them, Aaron’s friends ran, but a villain shot one of Aaron’s friends in back.  He didn’t get up.  Will Aaron be able to escape the bandits?  What will happen to his friend?

When Aaron found the green backpack containing the stolen money, he ran as fast as he could.  He got to the school and stashed the money behind some materials that were being used to renovate the school library.  A little later the sheriff burst in the doors and then locked them all inside.  He pulled a gun on Aaron and demanded the money.  Can Aaron prevent the evil sheriff from getting the money and killing them all?

I would recommend “The Pineville Heist” to people who like action-packed mysteries.  There were at least five killings and so I would not recommend this to those who dislike violence and blood.  I hadn’t expected the book to be quite as captivating as it was, but I ended up absolutely transfixed by it.  Most mysteries don’t have too much action until the end, but this one was crammed from cover to cover.  The book went really fast and I finished it several hours after I started it.
