I really liked this book, “The Mud Hole,” because I think it was really cool how the kids in the book got to see all of the cars. I like the way the author gives information about the cars included in the book and tells more about them in the end of the book.
This book was about two boys, Robert and Henry. They lived in older times, the 1900s, in the country. A lot of people were starting to get cars but Robert and Henry’s father did not have one. He didn’t like automobiles at all but the boys were very interested. They wanted to see and learn all about cars as often as they could.
They both caused a lot of mischief. They made the town mud hole worse by digging a ditch from the creek to the hole. This would keep the mud hole from drying up and made more cars get stuck. When a car got stuck, Robert and Henry pulled it out with the horse. This gave them a chance to earn money and a chance to see the cars up close. At the end of the story in “The Mud Hole,” it turns out Robert and Henry’s father does buy a car. He realized it would become necessary to have a car and he got a good deal. This made Henry and Robert very happy.
