“The Boy Who Conquered Everest: The Jordan Romero Story” by Katherine Blanc and Jordan Romero is the story of Jordan Romero, the thirteen-year-old Californian who made it to the top of Mount Everest in May 2010. When nine-year-old Jordan first laid eyes on a mural at his school that showed all of the “Seven Summits,” the tallest mountains in the world, he knew exactly what he wanted to do. He wanted to climb Mt. Everest. But he would have to train hard and get permission from several of the countries in which the mountains resided and get enough money to do it.
After a lot of very hard work and intense training, Jordan was finally ready to take on the Seven Summits. He started with Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. After three tiring days he made it to the peak of the mountain. He had climbed his first of the Seven. After Mt. Kosciuszco, Elbrus, Carstensz Pyramid, Aconcagua, and Mt. McKinley, Jordan was finally ready for Everest. This would be his greatest challenge. Could he make it?
I would recommend this book to people who like true adventure stories. The book was very short and could probably be read in about twenty minutes. The book wasn’t written like a normal book, it was more of a scrap book. It had lots of pictures and little notes that would make the book switch from third person to first person. “The Boy Who Conquered Everest: The Jordan Romero Story” was very fun to read.
