“Vendeka’s Creed” by Anthony Aquan-Assee, M. Ed., is the story of Jesse, a high-school student who, after a dangerous accident, wakes up in a world completely controlled by the evil hacker Vendeka.  Everyone in this reformed world must follow Vendeka’s creed or face the consequences.  No one has the courage to stand up to Vendeka except for Jesse.  Can Jesse stop Vendeka before everyone in the world becomes a mindless slave of Vendeka?

Jesse had always been picked on and shunned by almost everyone he knew.  So when he tried out for the high-school football team, everybody else thought it was some kind of joke.  But when a hit-and-run scenario left him almost dead and in a coma for several years, the world around the comatose Jesse changed.  Then one day he woke up and was able to escape the nurse robots that had been taking care of him and fled into the wide world.  Will Jesse be able to stay hidden and will he be able to find someone to help him?

The book constantly brought up different technology concepts that actually seem quite feasible.  It had devices such as palmtop computers (sort of like an iPhone) and microchip ID tracking devices.  The main obstruction that stopped Jesse from finding Vendeka immediately was a huge worldwide network called the grid.  The grid tracked all, saw all, and more importantly, for Vendeka, sent the virus to “remove” unwanted or convicted citizens.

I would recommend “Vendeka’s Creed” by Anthony Aquan-Assee to people who like science fiction.  The book took place in 2015 and it was fun to try and picture what the world would be like then.  This was an interesting book and I finished it soon after I started it.
